Autumn garden diary entry ~ a gentle wander through our autumn garden in Australia.
Growing & harvesting:
The grape harvest has come to an end, with plenty to share, though the vine is still lush and green for now. Tomatoes are still slowly ripening as the plants begin to fade, while the finger eggplant has finished flowering/fruiting and has been moved into the greenhouse to overwinter for another season. The garden is still full of colour, with white dahlias, daisies, and soft pink David Austin roses in bloom.
Still unfolding:
There’s still so much unfolding in the garden. We’ve been collecting ripe gooseberries for months, and with more flowers and fruit still forming, the harvest should continue well into winter. I’m looking forward to the grapevine leaves turning golden and falling, marking the shift in seasons. Borage, salvia, and poppy foliage have begun to emerge, quietly preparing for spring! I have sown some seeds for the upcoming winter: snow peas, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and cabbage.
